Hello! My name is Tessa (she/they), and I’m glad you’re here. Whether you’re considering therapy for the first time or continuing your therapeutic journey, you’ve already taken a significant first step—seeking a therapist who feels like the right fit. My goal as a therapist is to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that shape your life.
Past clients have described my therapeutic style as warm, welcoming, informative, and approachable. I value incorporating psychoeducation into our work together, helping you better understand your mental health and the concepts we explore so you can feel more empowered both in and outside of sessions. My main areas of focus include anxiety, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and LGBTQ+ concerns.
As a queer therapist, I have a special interest in working with individuals within the LGBTQ+ community and those interested in exploring their gender identity and/or sexuality. I draw from both evidence-based and practice-based approaches including dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), inference based cognitive behavioral therapy (I-CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and multicultural counseling theories.
I also focus on working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and integrate this with other somatic-based techniques to help you process traumatic experiences and shed the emotional weight you have been carrying with you.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I am often curled up on the couch with my dog and working on a craft—whether that’s knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or whatever creative project has my attention at the moment. I also enjoy caring for my plants, doing crossword puzzles, playing and listening to music, traveling, and laughing!
If anything you’ve read here resonates with you, I invite you to reach out to learn more or take the next step toward getting started.
